Forest School – Chellow Dene Wetland

Every Thursday 2 groups of children, one from red class and one from yellow class, go to Chellow Dene Wetland with Liz our ‘Forest School’ leader and Kim or Sumayyah to participate in Forest school activities. We use the natural environment and resources we find to help the children develop socially, physically and to enhance their problem solving skills. The children have enjoyed watching the leaves on the trees change colour and fall from the trees as Autumn progressed. We have used a small fire to prepare our snack of hot chocolate and popcorn and used stories as a catalyst to activities. We used Percy the Park Keepers Treasure Hunt to help the children understand how to do a picture trail to find our ‘Treasure’ of chocolate gold coins.

Yellow Class – Working with Lou and Clare

The children in Yellow Class are working every Monday with Clare and an artist called Lou. Over the last few weeks they have used their bodies, especially their feet, to explore texture and space and observed and drawn a fish. The children have really enjoyed both making marks and creating structures on a very large scale.
